Massachusetts RMV Written Test Requirements

The Massachusetts drivers license written test has a total of 25 questions based on information you can find in the driver’s manual.

To pass the test and receive your learning permit, you will need to answer at least 18 of the 25 questions correctly (72%).

After Passing the Written Exam

If you are under 18 years of age, you will have to meet the requirements of the JOL (Junior Operator License) program. Passing the written knowledge test will make you eligible for a Massachusetts learner’s permit.

A permit allows you to drive with a licensed adult who is at least 21 years old with at least 1 year of driving experience.
