Delaware DMV Written Test Requirements

The written driver’s license test contains 25 questions based on the information found in the driver’s manual.

You will be tested on traffic laws, safety rules and traffic signs and signals.

To pass the written test you need to answer at least 19 questions correctly (76%).

After Passing the DE DMV Written Test

If you are at least 18 years of age, you will receive a learner’s permit that you must hold at least 10 days before taking your road test.

If you are under 18 years of age, the written exam will be part of your driver’s education and level one of the learner permit phase.

What is the minimum age to obtain a learning permit in Delaware?

You must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible for a student permit in Delaware.

How long do you have to have a learner’s permit for if you are under 18?

If you are under 18, you must have your learner’s permit and practice supervised driving for at least 12 months.

What are the supervised driving requirements if you are under 18 years of age in DE?

During the first 6 months of having a learner’s permit, you must complete at least 50 hours of supervised driving practice.

How many questions are on the written driver’s license test in DE?

There are 25 questions based on the Delaware driver’s manual on the written test.

How old must you be to apply for a driver’s license in Delaware?

Once you are at least 16 and a half years old or have had a learner’s permit at least 6 months, you will be allowed to drive without supervision during certain hours.

You will be eligible for a full unrestricted driver’s license after having a restricted learner’s license / license for at least 12 months or when you turn 18 years old.
