Colorado DMV Written Test Requirements

There are 25 questions on the Colorado DMV written test. The questions are based on topics in the driver’s manual and will include things like road rules, driver safety and traffic signs.

To pass the written driver’s license exam, you must answer at least 20 questions correctly (80%).

After Passing the CO Written Driver’s License Test

If you are at least 18 years of age, you will receive a learner’s permit. You can use the permit to practice driving with a licensed adult supervisor to prepare for your road test.

If you are under 18 years of age, you will receive a learner’s permit after passing the road test. You will be required to keep the permit for a period of time before you are eligible for a driver’s license.
