Who needs to take the Passenger Written Test?
The CDL Passenger Written Knowledge test is required for any CDL holder who wishes to transport passengers (i.e. commuter buses).
Passing the Passenger test makes you eligible for the Passenger (P) Endorsement on your CDL.
Certain types of passenger vehicles or the ability to transport specific numbers of passengers may require additional certifications from your state.
For example, to drive a school bus, the CDL holder must possess both the Passenger (P) Endorsement and the School Bus (S) Endorsement.
To satisfy the full requirements of the Passenger Endorsement tests, you’ll also need to take and pass your skill tests in an appropriate commercial passenger vehicle.
