Who needs to take the HAZMAT Test?
Any CDL driver who wants to transport hazardous materials is required to pass the Hazardous Materials Knowledge exam and receive the HAZMAT (H) Endorsement for their CDL.
The HAZMAT Endorsement also requires the applicant to pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check.
Upon passing the HAZMAT Knowledge test, your CDL will qualify you to transport hazardous materials cargo in vehicles that coincide with your class of CDL.
The H Endorsement will require periodic re-testing, and you’ll need to keep your security/background assessments up-to-date.
